POOL WATER CARE GUIDE/CHLORINE

AT INITIAL START-UP ADD 1 QT OF ALGAECIDE, CLARIFIER, STAIN & SCALE AND NATURAL ENZYME PER 10,000 GALLONS OF POOL WATER.

THINGS TO DO WEEKLY

1. Vacuum steps, then walls, then floor. Brush tile, waterline, steps, walls then floor toward the main drain.

2. Check both pump & skimmer baskets for debris and cracks & clean pool sweep wall screener.

3. Backwash & rinse filter or per your filters instructions. Sand Filters-Backwash 1 minute. Rinse 30 seconds.

4. Check water level (keep level midway of skimmer mouth).

5. Test & treat water in this order!!! Balance-Stabilize-Shock-Sanitize, then add the following products...

3 oz. of Proteam Metal Magic per 10,000 gal Note: Double your dosage during the hotter months.

5 oz. of Proteam Prevent Algaecide per 10,000 gal Note: Double your dosage during the hotter months.

4oz. of Proteam Superfloc Clarifier per 10,000 gal Note: Double your dosage during the hotter months.

4oz. of Proteam Power Enzyme per 10,000 gal Note: Double your dosage during the hotter months.

WATER BALANCE & RANGES NOTE:YOU MUST BALANCE YOUR WATER IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER

Alkalinity 125-150ppm a. if low, (Goodbye Chlorine! acidic water, stains & corrodes) add alkalinity increaser.

b. if high, (Chlorine will not work! Algae growth accelerates,scale forms & water clouds) add

pH decreaser or muriatic acid in small amounts but frequently.

NOTE: high alkalinity must be lowered in small amounts frequently! It cannot be lowered in one treatment!

pH 7.4-7.6ppm a. if low, (Goodbye Chlorine! acidic water, stains & corrodes) add pH increaser per instructions.

b. if high, (Chlorine will not work! Algae growth accelerates, scale forms, water clouds) add pH

decreaser/muriatic acid.

Calcium Hardness 200-275ppm in plaster pools, (175-225ppm) in vinyl & fiberglass pools.

a. if low, (water foams, corrodes metals, soapy) add calcium increaser per instructions.

b. if high, (scale forms! discoloration, limes heaters & plumbing) add TSP (trisodium

phosphate) per instructions or partially drain pool and add fresh water. If source water

calcium level is above the recommended range then follow up with stain & scale inhibitor

initial dosage 1 qt per 10,000 gal then 4oz. to 6oz. per 10,000 gal weekly.

METALS

Copper 0ppm if present, (Cloudy/Stains)balance water then add 1qt of metal out per 10,000 gal of pool water.

Iron 0ppm if present, (Cloudy/Stains)balance water then add 1qt of metal out per 10,000 gal of pool water.

STABILIZATION

Stabilizer 25-40ppm a. if low, (Goodbye Chlorine!) add stabilizer at a rate of 2.5 lbs per 10,000 gallons.

b. if high, (false alkalinity readings, acidic water, increased chlorine demand) partially drain

pool and add fresh water to dilute stabilizer level.

SANITIZE w/TABLETS (to kill bacteria & algae) OXIDIZE w/SHOCK (to remove the dead bacteria, algae and other organic matter that the chlorine tablets (your sanitizer) killed.

Chlorine 1.0-2.0ppm a. if low, (cloudy water, algae & bacteria growth begin!) shock with 1 lb per 10,000 gal

and fill chlorinator/float feeder with tablets. Note: If using a cal-hypo (calcium

hypochlorite) shock, predisolve or add through skimmer.

b. if high, (liner fades!) add 2oz. to 5oz. of chlorine neutralizer per 10,000 gallons.

THINGS TO DO MONTHLY

1. IMPORTANT: You must chemically clean your filter with Filter Cleaner every 30 days to avoid poor

filtration and circulation as a result of suntan lotion, make-up, hair spray, deodorants, body oils and

saps from plants. NOTE: Use OMNI SURFACE CLEANER on tile, vinyl & fiberglass to remove scumline.

2. Remove scum from waterline on tile, vinyl & fiberglass SCUMBALLS AND SCUMSOCKS WORK GREAT!!!

3. Lubricate pump lid oring, chlorinator lid oring and pool cleaner wall fitting O-ring with MAGIC LUBE.

4. Have cyanuric acid, metals and phosphate levels tested by a pool professional.
