SPA WATER CARE GUIDE/BAQUASPA INITIAL START-UP TREATMENT 1. Test and Balance water in the following order. Be sure pump is running when adding any chemicals. Alkalinity (125-150ppm) a. if low, (Goodbye Sanitizer! acidic water, stains & corrodes) add alkalinity increaser. b. if high, (Sanitizer will not work! scale forms water clouds) add alkalinity/pH decreaser. pH (7.4-7.6ppm) a. if low, (Goodbye Sanitizer! acidic water/stains & corrodes) add pH increaser per instructions b. if high, (Sanitizer will not work! scale forms, water clouds) add pH decreaser per instructions. Calcium Hardness (200-300ppm) a. if low, (water foams, corrodes metals & you fill slimy) add hardness increaser. b. if high, (scale forms! discoloration, limes heaters & plumbing) drain spa and refill. If source water calcium level is above recommended range then add TSP(trisodium phosphate) per instructions and follow up with stain & scale. Copper (0ppm) if present, (cloudy water & stains) balance water then add metal inhibitor per instructions. Iron (0ppm) if present, (cloudy water & stains) balance water then add metal inhibitor per instructions. Note: Remember to chemically clean your filter every 30 days! 2. With blower off! Add 1-1/2oz of BaquaSpa Waterline Control per 150 gallons of spa water and let circulate 1 minute. Note: If water temperature is cold, the addition of BaquaSpa Waterline Control may cause a temporary cloudy condition. Once the water temperature is elevated to normal spa temperatures of 94-104 degrees F, the cloudiness will disappear. 3. With blower off! Add 3oz of BaquaSpa Shock per 150 gallons of spa water and let circulate on high speed for 15 minutes. 4. Add 1oz of BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control per 150 gallons of spa water and circulate for 15 minutes. Sanitizer (30-50ppm) a. if low, (water clouds, foul odor, bacteria & algae growth begin) add BaquaSpa Sanitizer and shock. b. if high, (foaming occurs, almond odor and sweet taste to water ) partially drain and dilute. 5. Add 1oz-2oz of a Natural Enzyme to break down and dissolve body oils, cosmetics and lotions that clog filters. 6. Add 1oz-2oz of a water clarifier to pull together microscopic suspended particles that cause turbidity, (cloudy water),so that the filter will hold them. NOTE: YOU MUST CIRCULATE YOUR SPA AT LEAST 3 HOURS EVERYDAY!!! WEEKLY MAINTENANCE ROUTINE 1. Test & balance water in the following order. (NOTE: IF SPA IS USED DAILY THEN TEST EVERY OTHER DAY) Alkalinity (125 to 150ppm) pH (7.4 to 7.6ppm) Calcium Hardness (200 to 300ppm) 2. With blower off! Add 3/4oz of BaquaSpa Waterline Control per 150 gallons of spa water and let circulate 1 minute. 3. With blower off! Add 3oz of BaquaSpa Shock per 150 gallons of spa water and let circulate on high speed for 15 minutes. 4. Add just enough BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control to bring the level back up to 50ppm on your test strip. 5. Add 1/2oz of Sun Natural Enzyme per 150 gal. 6. Add 1/2oz of Sun or EZ-Clor Water Clarifier per 150 gal. 7. Clean scumline with surface cleaner. SCUMBALLS ARE PERFECT FOR REDUCING SCUMLINE!!! BI-MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ROUTINE 1. Drain spa and clean. THIS IS A MUST!!! 2. Clean acrylic surface with SUN POLIGLOS which is a one step cleaner, wax and sealer. DO NOT USE HOUSE- HOLD PRODUCTS! THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH SPA CHEMICALS AND WILL RUIN THE ACRYLIC FINISH, STOP UP FIBROUS MATERIAL IN THE FILTER CARTRIDGE AND CAUSE FOAMING! 3. Remove filter cartridge and spray thoroughly with high pressure nozzle then soak in a 5 gallon bucket of filter cleaner and water solution for a period of 24hrs. Then rinse thoroughly and reinstall. 4. Before refilling spa, make sure all drain plugs are in and drain valves have been closed then refill spa. 5. After refilling spa and turning on, you may experience Air Lock. This occurs when air is trapped in isolated areas of the plumbing and equipment. After turning on the circulating pump, simply open the drain valve and the air relief plug on the filter top to release the trapped air until water comes out. This will automatically prime the pump as a result of gravity. |
